    Hi,

A client of mine is having issues trying to upload large video files through the Umbraco media interface.  They are happy to do it with FTP, so I thought this package might solve their problems (they can upload their huge file via FTP then just import them to a media item via Umraco).

However, I'm a little unclear as to where they should upload the files to via FTP.  They already have a couple of reserved directories in the filesystem which they use for general file storage/transfer so I was hoping they could put their video files in there and then import them.  It seems though that the files have to be uploaded into the media folder on the server via FTP - is that right?  If so, do they have to create a numbered folder into which to put each file?

    Thanks

Currently they can select what folder to import from in the media directory as they get a directory listing in the UI for the package however as recommended by another user I will try and make it a configuration option for the package where to look for the import folder as it is not practical in sites that have 100's or 1000's of media nodes, and it is also not for me to decide where you should be importing from.

I have a lot of work on at the moment but want to add these bits soon, with a bit of luck that will happen this weekend.

Thanks Simon - that would be really handy.  I'm still a little unclear though where the client should upload their file to.  Should they log into the site via FTP and create a new numbered folder in the media directory and upload into there, or should they create a new media folder in the Umbraco UI and upload the file into that via FTP, then import back in the UI?

At the moment they should upload to any folder they choose or create within the media directory. I have got the configuration side of things done now in my package, there are just a couple of other changes I want to make before I release an updated package.

    Hi Simon

Can it be that the folders from the media library are not shown when there are 200+ folders created already?

I've just installed the package, since my client have som large files they want to upload. But when I use the Import function I never get a list of folders to import from in the prompt. It's just blank.

    /Jan

Argh sorry, I was a bit too fast there. Forgot to chance the reservedurls part. I'll bet it's working when I have done so :-)

    Cheers

    /Jan
