That is strange - I have a document type in one site with about 6 treemultipickers, including 4 on one tab. Umbraco 4.0.2.1. Also have a 4.0.3 document type with 2 on the same tab. (both using treemulitpicker 0.6.1)
Perhaps there is something else causing conflicts?
I had the same problem. I found out that the media picker with preview datatype was causing trouble. After I removed this datatype from the document type I was able to use multiple tree multi pickers.

It is imposible to use multiple pickers on the same document.

Hi, (look like: right now problem already fixed)
but in my projects I am using multi site node picker from http://modulesforumbraco.codeplex.com/
which looks more "compact" could be used more then 1 time per data item, could pick different content: nodes, media, files, members
