Question for Lee - Alert Users to Imminent Shutdown for Maintenance

    Lee,

We are using a program called ContentFreeze when editing document types on production.

    Content Freeze

    http://our.umbraco.org//projects/collaboration/content-freeze

We'd like to alert users who are online ahead of time that we're going to lock them out. That would involve restarting the web server and then running content freeze.

Can uBackChatter do this? In other words, can you send out a broadcast to all users online w/out having to add each user individually?

BTW - is there an easy method or a backoffice extension for  ascertaining  who exactly is online?

    Thanks.

    Richard Barg

    Hi Richard,

Unfortunately no, uBackChat would need you to open a chat with each user individually.

I can definitely see how a broadcasting system across the back-office would solve this - also sounds like a good idea!

However future development on uBackChat is very low down on my priorities. The source-code is available and I would happily accept any enhancements.

    Thanks, Lee.
