    Users Access Issue

    Hi there

I have a user setup to access only a particular part of my site.

As per the images below the top level node (Kaitaia) returns an error, but the child node (Fuel Deal) works fine.

The error message details an issue with:

    C:\Dev\uComponents-v2.0\uComponents.Core\Shared\Tree\CustomTreeControl.cs:112

Are you able to confirm if this is in fact a bug / issue with uComponents, or am I being a numpty when setting up users? The confusing issue is the permissions are the same on both nodes and one works...

    Thanks

    Nigel

    Hi Nigel,

Take it that the 'Kaitaia' content is using a MNTP? Thinking that the set-up for the MNTP is accessing the root content node (which this doesn't have permission to access/view).

Double-check the start-node for the MNTP, see if there are any conflicts in permissions?

If that checks out ok, let us know - we'll try to reproduce the problem further.

    Cheers, Lee.

    Hi Lee

OK - have had a play with the user and tracked down the problem...

When creating a user you have to select a start node for media, or you can't save the user. So you select a node and save the user - all is well at this point.

My issue highlighted above still exists.

So tick "Media" in "Sections" to provide permissions to the media section and save.

Now things are working as expected - so in my case the issue does relate to there being a Multi Media Tree Picker object on the document type. However for this user we do not want to provide access to the media section.

As a work around we can create a "dummy" media folder and set this as the folder for the user - maybe call the folder something like "DONT UPLOAD IMAGES HERE" !

So the issue in the end is more one that the User creation process forces you assign media access, which in 99% of cases will be the case, but here - nadda !

Cheers Lee for pointing me in the right direction.

    Regards

    Nigel
