Datatype grid: thumb images of media picker property broken

I've created a dynamic slideshow using the Datatype grid which includes a media picker property.
I have an odd issue, where once a media item has been selected using the tool, the thumbnail within the Umbraco interface is broken (see the screenshot below). The image displays fine on my site, the problem only occurs in this instance.
After inspecting the element, the Datatype grid seems to be adding '_thumb.jpgjpg' to the image URL instead of '_thumb.jpg', and whenever I manually add the latter to the selected image URL it displays absolutely fine in a new tab. Any ideas?
