    Hi Richard,

Thanks for quick response. I have installed it and am trying to configure now. Having a small issue I'll detail here but please let me know if this is not the appropriate place for the question.

    I have:

    - set up a user type and given it the required permissions

    - added a user to that user type

    - given that user type permissions to only certain areas of my site

However when logging in to umbraco as that user, I am able to edit the entire site still, something is over riding the permissions.

Worth mentioning this is the first umbraco site I have configured so more than likely something I've missed. The user type name is in [square brackets], not sure of that means anything.

    Any help appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Weird, I think there is an event in Umbraco that is not fired when adding the user to the group. When you open the user itself are the correct permissions set?

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Leave it with me - let me make sure I have configured everything correctly.

Thanks for coming back to me,

    Matt

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for the previous support. I have now resolved the issue which was indeed my incorrect configuration of the group.

I have one further question, hopefully you can help:

    - I have created a user with browse node permissions only

    - I have created a group with browse node permissions only

    - I have added the user to that group

    - I have given that group permissions to one node of the content tree, and chosen 'replace permissions on all existing users'

    - logging in as that user I can edit the parent of the node correctly but all of the child pages give me the 'do not have permission message'

    - However when looking at the group permissions for the child pages the appropriate permissions are assigned

    - looking at the permissions in the user permissions area, the user has the appropriate permissions for the parent but not the children

So it is as if the permissions are either not being assigned to the child pages properly, or umbraco is using the user rather than group permissions.

Does that make sense? Any ideas appreciated?

    Regards,

    Matt

    *Bump*

Is this still a maingtained package currently?

I need to begin setting up 100s of users and would like to use this package, but only if I can get it working as I think it should work.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

It is maintained but on my spare time which is limited at the moment. If you like I can make you a contributor on this one?

    Cheers,

    Richard

Thanks Richard, understood re, your time.

Thanks for offer, unfortunately I don't have the skills to develop this, although that is something that may come in the future.

If you had the time to review my post above and let me know if Ihave done things correctly that would be much appreciated. Basically the issue I am having is that I cannot get the group permissions to cascade to all pages in an area, should it do that or are the group permissions added on a page by page basis?

Appreciate you're busy and thanks for your response,

    Cheers,

    Matt

It's weird it looks at the user permissions but the package should set the permissions based on the selected group

    Thank you.

But if I want to give a usergroup permission to edit a parent page and all of its child pages, can I do that all in one go? or do I need to assign the group permission to edit those pages one by one for the parent and all children individually?

Everything is working as it should other than I just need to understand the process for applying group permissions to pages/sets of pages.

    Thanks again,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

No you should only set it on the parent. So this is propably a bug and I need to look into it. Hopefully before Christmas.

    Cheers,

    Richard

Thank you Richard, that would be great.

Apologies in advance if this is something I have configured incorrectly.

    For info we're using V6.1.6

    Best wishes,

    Matt
