Will Merchello be further developed and will it remain a part of Umbraco? It worries me that it is no longer listed as a package in Our Umbraco. Besides, the last change in Nuget was a year ago.
Yes, they no more providing support, it's a nice e-com package actually. But don't know why they stop the support and the further development, there are some open issues too in git.
yes I have heard about it. But sadly the official release is not due untill March 2020.
I am afraid that there will be a time to get rid of the usual teething troubles.
But the major thing is: can it be integrated with an existing Umbraco Website in a similar, straight forward way like Merchello does?
And of course it will not be available free of charge or against a voluntary donation. The developer estimates a similar fee as for his previous eCommerce project "TeaCommerce". So we will have to expect costs of around 1200€ per setup.
Dont get me wrong. I think its great, that there is a new U8 based eCommerce solution developed and for a mature eCommerce package, I think the costs are justified. Unfortunately, I often have very small customers who need a minimal shop solution, often only with prepayment, where it quickly goes beyond the budget.
For those projects I'd rather donate 200€ for a seamless Merchello setup.
Agreed, I think umbraco is missing out on a simple free/small cost eCommerce, while I completely understand it takes time to develop. Unfortunately those smaller websites with smaller clients wont be able to justify those pricey fees.
Which will then cause them to use a 3rd party website rather then having everything under Umbraco.
To me, having a small monthly fee would benefit more. Which would then be able to support smaller clients as well as the big clients. Last thing you would want to do is restrict your client base.
Is Merchello dead?

Has anyone further information?
Hi Edgar,
Seeing the developers of Merchello took the package offline seems to me they don't want to support it anymore.
Also their github page states it's no longer actively developed : https://github.com/Merchello/Merchello
If you are looking for the umbraco package. You can still find it on the releases tab of the git repository.
