Ah, no sorry - should have asked what version you were on.
We were able to start managing our own lang files in Umbraco 7.3.x - so Merchello 1.13.x
Prior to that, you have to manually merge in the respective language keys to the /Umbraco/Config/Lang/[yourlang].xml
