Could any one tell me if Merchello is able to send an email notification on subscription end.. and maybe a reminder a few days in advance?

(project we have requires monthly/annual subscriptions for online access and or hard copy updates)

Is this available out of the box?

Or would I have to create my own custom notification provider.. and if so are there events to hook into for subscription expiry?

Or perhaps this would need to be scheduled task?

Any help very welcom.
