Have you set up membership on your site? uForum only requires that a member is logged in. It does not look at membertype or usergroups, only that a member is signed in.
You need to setup you own login controls. They are not supplied with uForum. For a quick way of doing this, take a look at my blogpost on the subject here:

Do I have to have any special Member name inlog to get that to work? In that case what is the membername?
