    Importing deletes HTML tags..

HI im trying testing this module before buying it.

    ive allready checked this http://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/cmsimport/using-cmsimport/32124-HTML-Tags-not-importing-in-Rich-text-editor

But I managed to get the tinyMCE to NOT delete my HTML tags like br strong et etc, ehrn im copy pasting directly. But importing still cleans up everything. !!

Im wuite stuck now / any help would be appriciated.

    best regards Nicolai

    Hi Nicolai,

That is weird since the import process only assigns a value against a property. But did you change the tiny_mce config file? And which version of Umbraco are you using?

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi Richard

    thx for fast reply :-)

Im using Umbraco v6.0.0 (Assembly version: 1.0.4779.24222) and importing from a XML file

I did quite some replace with notepad++ to fix up not valid html etc.

I did mess with the tinyMCE config to try and solve this. But to make clean sheet I restored the file from backup and tried again this morning. With hthe same result.

heres an example imported with CMSimport  http://dr.skow.dk/1230.aspx

And same text done with copy/paste directly to the editor in HTML mode http://dr.skow.dk/1236.aspx

And I agree its pretty strange, I used your pretty cool module 2 years ago with succes. Can remeber much of it of course. But really need it for this one, and is going to buy a domain license for this one if I can make this work :-)

    Best regards ;-)

    Nicolai

I Think the V6 version is not stripping the tags anymore then when using the UI. Will have a check But as said not much I really can do about it since it's mapping on field to another. If you write your own custom importer it will be the same.

Is it possible to send me the tinymce config file then I can have a look at that.

    Thanks,

    Richard

For sure: http://dr.skow.dk/tinymceconfig.txt   (I can even give you access to the umbraco solution if you want?)

not sure I get it 100%. If umbraco 6 tinyMCE does not clean up HTML. where is stripping then happening in the process. ? (I aware that its not in your module, just trying to figure out how to avoid it.)

    adn thx again

    Nicolai

    Hi Nicolai,

I must say I find this very strange as well. I'll create a document and will use it in V6 also to import. Did you go with the normal assemblies or a nightly?

    Thanks,

    Richard

richard sad: Did you go with the normal assemblies or a nightly?

not sure I know what youre talking about :-)  if you with nightly mean if I uses it scheduled , then no. Ive just created a test XML file with only 8 pages to test it, which I import manually with the module?

Hi Nicolai, must not have been awake. You mentioned you use XML. Is the richt text wrapped into a CDATA section (If you don't know can you send the file to [email protected] then I can have a look). If it's not in a CDATA section it will be parsed as normal XML and then it will treat HTML as XML and strip those tags.

    Hope to hear from you.

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi Nicolai,

Yup it's what I thought there was no CDATA Section. But I think I can built a check into CMSImport that will check if it's cdata or not and If there is no CDATA section import the element as XML. Give me a few hours then you can download a Hotfix.

    Thanks,

    Richard

    HI Nicolai,

I've just created a fix for issues like this. It can be downloaded via http://hotfix.soetemansoftware.nl/CMSImport/ put the dll files in your bin folder of the Umbraco installation and all should be good. This fix will be included in CMSImport 2.3.2 also.

    Hope this helps,

    Richard
