Anyone Used UmbImport With Existing Users In SQL Membership DB

I have an existing site, which I build some time ago using the standard ASP.NET membership provider - As I am rebuilding the site in Umbraco, I'm going to want to import the 200+ users who have already signed up into the new site.

Problem is the password etc..  I am using the asp.net membership provider with Umbraco, so if I transfer the users with the passwords as they are will they still work?  Or will I have to write a little reset password and email it to the user method?

    Hi Lee,

Good question. I'm assuming that it would work. The umbraco membershipprovider is build on top of the default asp.net one, so when you configure the umbraco membershipprovider the same as you did with the existing asp.net site it should still work, only one way to find out and that is to test it ;-)....

If not UmbImport comes with the functionality to mail the new account credentials to the members so you don't have to write anything.

    Cheers,

    Richard
