    language management to be improved

    Hi.

For a customer I needed to create a website in 3 languages, resp. 3 cultures: de-ch, fr-ch, it-ch (the frontend and backend has to be in these 3 languages).

Now, because de-CH is different than de-DE (and the dictionary items need the exact culture to be correctly translated) if I make a copy and edit the de.xml (to de-ch.xml) in umbraco/config/lang and give it a new international name (German (CH) for example), and in the xml file rename the culture from "de-DE" to "de-CH", when I go to the Users management I can see and select the new language from the list. I select it and the dictionary items I created in the Backend work and translate correctly my properties I named for example #content, #title etc. in my document types so everything is ok...

Now, if I delete the de.xml file, because I don't like doubles and so that the user won't be confused on which language to select, all the umbraco default (so, not my document types, the prperties there are ok) translations will appear like [date], [published] etc. which seems that umbraco needs still the main de-DE file (which is the case: I out the deleted files back and everything works again, but I have the German and German (CH) in the list which I don't want...).

I want to get rid of the unnecessary cultures, but I don't see a way to do it.

Maybe can somebody help? Or is this a bug?

    Thanks and cheers

    Paolo
