Should be really simple but I cannot get it renamed at all - basically want the section name to be Reporting and the tree node that currently says Dewd to read Reporting - how?

You can change it in the language files found at /umbraco/config/lang. I always update the en_us.xml and en.xml.
If you look for Dewd you will find a key in sections part:
<key alias="dewd">New name</key>
After that restart the website and it should be visible.
