Document Types - Missing Def Files

Hello - firstly awesome package :)

I'm using Umbraco 6.1.2 with uSync and on a completly fresh install I've found sometimes the .def file doesnt get created.

So the document types don't get recreated properly.

However if I go back through and resave each the root document types it then creates the .def file.

    Hummm...

I will crack open my latest build and see if i can recreate the problem.

it would be good if you could look in the umbraco tracelogs (/app_data/logs/) and see if you can spy any misbehaving uSync elements ?

it would be excellent if you where prepared to delete (or rename) the usync folder on the source installation, alter the web.config and watch uSync recreate the structure ? this would also produce a nice clean tracelog and i could go through it to stift for clues.

don't worry if that sounds too scary, i will see what i can do from this end.

Hi Kevin, I should of taken a backup of the site at that point. I'll go back in time with source control and see if I can recreate :)

Will post an update later, Laurence

    Something has gone super odd!

uSync has started writing files into the /Views/ directory

that's very bizarre. uSync doesn't know about the views folder. it will write to what ever folder is set in the usyncsettings.config file within the config folder - if for somereason that isn't there it defaults to ~/usync.

can you check /app_data/Logs/ to see if usync is writing anything to the log file about the view folder?

Nope, no references to the View folder in the Log folder,

Search through and had a look. I've copied and pasted the uSync 'app start-up', but it looks quite normal to me.

    Hi

the latest version of uSync for umbraco 6.1.x now uses the new CoreApi for Saves and Deletes of document types - while this shouldn't be any diffrent in terms of document types getting created it might be more stable and things might now be better for you
