What are your thoughts? Any suggestions before I fully release it?
A few things I'm considering on changing:
Move default author from landing node to the author container.
Remove "Show social media links" from landing node. This will always be turned on!
"Use Summary On Landing" and "Use Title As Node Name" are on the landing node...does it make sense here? Should it not go in a config file?
Add SEO frequency etc to all nodes and seo meta script.
Thinking of adding a breadcrumb. But that doesnt entirely make sense in the current datefolder context, as the datefolders do not have renderable templates...they only redirect.
Add Category doctype so you can categorise... this would change the functionality of the current Category Labels... Basically, category labels are like tags. A couple clients wanted to "categorise" nodes AND tag them, but wanted a post to have more than 1 category.
Currently you search with ?category=myCategoryLabel
But if I have a category container node then this should take precedence... so i propose
?category=myCategoryContainingNode - for searching nodes with category ancestor nodes
and ?categoryLabel=myCategoryLabel for searching by category label.
For clearing up things, is the 'Landing Node' the 'Blog' node?
On categorization, I'm all in for a good categorization system, but having a Category containing node and a Category label seems confusing. What's the difference between a Category containing node and a Category label. To keep things simple I would suggest to enable the possibility of assigning multiple category labels to a blog post.
Good to hear that uBlogsy is alive and kicking, for it's still the best Umbraco Blog Package out there.
If I make the Blog Posts container the main node in the site, then that means it would have to also contain the tags container, author container etc. I'm not opposed to that... just a fair bit of work though :)
Category labels are a heated topic. A couple clients wanted to "categorise" nodes AND tag them, but wanted a post to have more than 1 category. But they didnt want to have category containing nodes. On the other hand, a lot of people out there just want the category containing nodes. This is me trying to appease both. It may end up being not worthwhile though as I'm more fore category containers... however, the current client wants to "label" (only 3) and i bet "tagging" comes into play in the near future.
