    Manual install problem

Great package! I got this working by adding the mime type manually and running the .air file as Matt suggested in another post and now I would like to install it for all contributors to our website. However...

One contributor, using Win 7 64 bit, cannot run the.air file as Windows has no application associated with the .air file extension. Also, I cannot install DMU from the website media section as the install image does not appear.

How should I install the application for this user? Do I need to install Adobe Air and then associate the .air file type to Adobe Air?

    I'm running 4.5.2 on IIS7.

    Thanks, Eddy

    Hi Eddy,

It sounds like they don't have flash installed. Trying installing the flash plugin for their browser and try again.

    Cheers

    Hi Matt,

I thought it might be that and installed flash and restarted the machine but still no joy. Whats strange is the .air and the .swf files are not associated with the flash progamme. The newer versions of flash don't appear to have the stand alone player so in the option 'associate file type with' you cannot select the flash programme.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks, Eddy

    Hey Eddy,

That does sound strange. Have your tried installing adobe air manually?

Yep that works! It just means installing it for every contributor but I can live with that.

    Appreciate the assistance.

    Thanks, Eddy

    Cool, glad you can progress.

Wondering if it's anything to do with it being 64bit? Might have to do some testing.

I think it is. I've tried it on two 64 bit win 7 machines and experienced a similar problem. The flash player is only 32 bit and is now installed as a plugin to the browser of your choice. I found some info on the adobe forums.
