I have to umbraco installations at the same hosting company. But on one of the solutions the DMU package returns an 'Invalid login' a nano second af I click 'Sign In'.
Yeah, it would make sense if they were. But have you tried contacting unoeuro to make sure that there's not something weird going on with this particular installation? :)
I have the exact same problem, and im also using v4.5.2.
When i use Fiddler, i find that there is a call to /umbraco/webservices/mediauploader.ashx wich renders a 404 error. I tried to reinstall the package, without luck.
Also i tried to copy the file from another site where the DMU works. However i get a 500-error telling me that "Could not create type 'umbraco.presentation.umbraco.webservices.MediaUploader'.". I cannot find any relating .dll in the site that works, and also it is a v4.7.1, so i cant really copy the umbraco-files either.
I don't have an answer I'm afraid but I find even in 4.7.1 if I have multiple Umbraco projects open, or I've been working on multiple projects in my browser that I get the 'Invalid Login' alert, sometimes I even see a different site URL in the login box, however it logs me in fine.
I was continually getting the 'invalid login' a nano second after clicking sign-in. Fiddler showed no web calls at all. Uninstalled/Reinstalled to no avail.
Then added http:// to the front of the URL and it got through.
I have been experiencing the same "invalid login" error message after downloading DMU v2.0.5 from this website.
After reading this thread I realise I need to install v2.1.0, however, that only seems to be available via the media section of the admin panel.
When I try to install it via the admin panel, I get the following error message:
"Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged.Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author."
I'm wondering if there's any other way to get hold of v2.1.0? I really don't know what to do/where else to turn.
I have been having the same issue as a few people here, running umbraco 4.7. I have tried version 2.0.1 2.0.2 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 from here but they all give the invalid login message, with or without http://. Furthermore, I cannot download the media downloader from the media page when logged into umbraco, as it is blank where the download button should be! (attached pic). Its the same in chrome, firefox or safari... trying opera now.
Invalid login

On the other solution it works great.
Any ideas ?
Hi Sebastian
Are the two installations 100% indentical?
/Jan
Hi Jan
Regarding packages, no. But almost.
Rgarding server-setup, I guess since both sites are hosted at unoeuro.
Hi Sebastian

Unoeuro thinks it the software that's the problem ... so I'm kinda stuck.
I had the same problem - and realised that the project homepage offers version v2.0.5 - which doesn't work with Umbraco 4.7x.
So I uninstalled the old version (through Programs and Features) and installed the updated version v.2.1 through the Media area in your umbraco admin.
Now the login works fine. Hope that helps.
Matt - the version offered on the project homepage is out of date for Umbraco 4.7 - please offer v2.1 as a download option.
Thanks,
Phil
I'm getting the same problem Umbraco 4.5.2, I did have 2.0.2 installed but everytime I try to use DMU I get the "Invalid Login" error.
This occurs when I access it from the back end, or try to enter the login details manually.
I tried upgrading to 2.0.5 but get the same error, I can't login.
I've tried adding a new user in Umbraco I can login to Umbraco fine but cannot login to the DMU.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Rich

Hi Anders,

Rich
Rich, can you check if you have the /umbraco/webservices/mediauploader.ashx file in the implementations where it doenst work?
Matt, any input?
I'll have a look Anders, but I don't have an exact way of reproducing the error, next time I see it.
Rich
Just chek if you have that file in both implenentations.
: )
I have them for sure, can't see any reason I wouldn't!
Ok, well i dont.
I have no idea why though.
strange, was it an upgrade?
Nah, plain installation - no prior version installed.
I'm now getting this error again with 4.6.1
Any ideas?
Rich
Sorry, should have said, DMU 2.0.2
Using Fiddler I've noticed that strangly that the DMU contacts the current site but also a unrelated site:
404 Not Found (text/html) POST http://www.the-site-im-trying-to-use/umbraco/webservices/mediauploader.ashx
502 Fiddler - DNS Lookup Failed (text/html) POST http://some-old-local-site/umbraco/webservices/mediauploader.ashx
I got my client to uninstall the DMU and re-install, they then saw some other login, closed it and re-open and logged in straight away.

Just my 2 cents for the next noob reading this.
I got my problem with the invalid login settled after upgrading to 4.7.1
Strange, but the upgrade itself was a walk in the park.
Hi, I'm using umbraco 4.5.2, had 2.0.1 got the invalid login error. Uninstalled, installed 2.0.5 still I get invalid login.
Anybody has an idea how to solve this?
Thx
Hi,
The following worked for me with Umbraco 4.7.
With my scenario I had an older version of the uploader installed.
Thanks,
Eddie
Umbraco 6.0.2
Fiddler does not show any request going out, but DMU returns with an Invalid Login message.
Any idea?
Installing the plugin via the Package i was able to get it to connect properly. This was on a 6.X instance of Umbraco.
Hope this helps someone. :)

Hi there,
I have been experiencing the same "invalid login" error message after downloading DMU v2.0.5 from this website.
Thanks so much for reading and for your time!

I managed to get it to display a download link to the media uploader by disabling flash, but it produces a 404. It is trying to direct to http://(siteroot)/umbraco/dashboard/air/desktopmediauploader.air
is working on a reply...
