Install Now via Badge fails - download error occurred
Hi Matt,
I seem to be having some trouble on a v4.5 site. Users are unable to install DMU via the badge using Chrome on Windows. It works fine on other browsers and Chrome on Mac, just not Windows.
When clicking install now, we get "Installing this application requires Adobe AIR, which will also be downloaded and installed. Press yes to continue."
When pushing yes, we get the error "A download error occurred. Try to download again?"
Just an update in case anyone else is seeing this - it looks like this is a Chrome/Flash bug and nothing to do with UMP or the Umbraco install. See the following links:
The current workaround from Adobe is below, but hopefully they will release an update to fix. Otherwise, the DMU can still be installed from other browsers, or if already installed it can be launched directly.
Navigate to "about:plugins" in the Chrome address bar
Click the Details link in the upper right part of the page to expand all items
Locate the "Shockwave Flash" entries (there will be 2 or 3 of these)
Click "Disable" for the PPAPI copy (most likely the first one listed), which has a version number of 11.3.31.222
I disable the flash installer badge, since it never works for me. Instead I put a link to the /umbraco/dashboard/air/DesktopMediaUploader.air file. Then users can just click that and install the awesome uploader.
@Bjorn I've installed Adobe Air and then installed the DMU separately however the dashboard doesn't figure it's installed so the automatic login doesn't work.
@Tom Is this still working for you, I don't have that version number anymore..

If I browse manually to http://<site>/umbraco/plugins/theoutfield/desktopmediauploader/desktopmediauploader.air, I get the AIR Application Install popup as expected.
We tried upgrading to the latest version (2.0.2 -> 2.0.5), verified the .air entry is in web.config, and installed AIR manually.
Any thoughts on where the problem might be?
Thanks,
Tom
