Using documents in the RTE with a macro

First of all i would like to thank you for a cool package. I was a fan of documents in Synkron VIA, and i think its nice to see it Umbraco :)

I have a couple of suggestions:

    1. It would be cool if the datatype could be used with a macro, so i could insert multiple Documents into the Rich Text Editor, instead of making a "Select document" document picker on the document type itself. As it is now the datatype is not available as a "type" on the macro "parameters" pane.

    2. It would be really cool if the documents could use templates, so a document could have its own template.
    Example:
You could imagine the employees of company built as documents.
An employee would be listed on pages they had relevance to.
An "employee box" would have a certain layout.
This layout is defined in a template for the given "document" and inherited into the surrounding page layout, as a kind of sub template.

I have no idea how complex or even impossible these suggestions are. But i think they would greatly improve the package.

    Hi

    Thank you for the feedback!

Those are some good ideas, and I haven't thought about any of them, so I'll add them to my growing list of ideas! I'm still thinking a bit too much along the lines of VIA I guess, so ideas from more experienced Umbraco users are very welcome!

This package is a bit of a "learn-by-doing" experience for me, so no promises.

At the moment I'm doing another datatype, a bit like the Document List module on VIA. You choose a folder in the Document tree, and the documents in that folder will be shown on the site. I'll add some sorting and ... let's see!
