There doesnt seem to be an obvious way to exclude certain doctypes from the search. Is this something that is in the pipeline?

ezSearch uses examine and in Examine you can exclude document types. More info here: http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2011/9/16/examining-examine.aspx
