Since we are running some high traffic websites, every single bit of extra overhead can have big impact, i did some testing with Procmon and detected that updating the index.xml is taking some microseconds each time, so i think it would be maybe a nice feature if there was an option to disable imagen for updating the dateLastAccessed field.
An other small feature i would like to request is disabling the version info, since it also shows the product name, something which is not allowed by one of our clients which has high security standards.
Bumping this old thread, i've noticed the same thing. On high traffic sites the updating of the xml leads to a lot of unneccessary disk io. what does the datelastaccessed field do? It would be great if it was possible to disable the updating.
I have a pre-release that removes the unnecessary disk io and has other performance improvements for large and high-traffic sites. Would you be willing to validate it on your site before release? If so, please contact me through my website at http://www.percipientstudios.com/about/contact.aspx
Not a bug, but a request
