If it works well in some browsers and not others then I'd say it isn't a problem with ImageGen. Indeed, if the images produced by ImageGen don't have the 'dots' then it isn't anything to do with ImageGen and they must be an artifact from the fading technique itself.
The problem seems to be that absolute black is occasionally interpreted as transparent in IE when fading. Set the background of the slideshow to be black and the problem shouldn't be apparent any more.
Weird white dots on image
I have a weird problem with ImageGen in IE.
One of the images I'm using has white "dots" on it when it's fading in.
You can see the picture here. (It's the picture of the hammer).
It works fine in FF and Chrome.
Could this problem be related to ImageGen or is it a javascript problem?

Changing the css background-color for the slides to black isntead of white worked!
