When I upload and save a new version an image to the media section. The old version of the image is still displayed on the live page - with the exception of Firefox. I guess this is simply the broswer displaying the cached version of the image. As a hard refresh clears the cached version.
Just wanted to check if I could do anything via Image Gen? Or if it's best to add a time stamp to the url of each image.
ImageGen itself should notice when the underlying original image has changed and re-create any previously-cached images using the new original. There was a bug in this 'noticing' in some of the 2.5 builds but I think it's now resolved. However, if you use ImageGen Professional and the cachingTimeSpan setting the browser won't make a request to ImageGen until that time expires.
Since a hard refresh of the browser gets the proper image it seems ImageGen is indeed noticing the change but the browser isn't requesting it and is just using the version it has already.
ImageGen doesn't support querystring params as part of the &image= parameter except when using remote images so that's only an option in rare cases.
Image Caching
Hi,

Thanks,
