No problem at all, but you'll need to ImageGen Professional's "class" feature to make it work. Set the class="default" entry to have the width to 250 and that will do it. Read the docs for details about classes and nuances of how they work.
Remote images are only enabled in ImageGen Professional, but only if you specifically white-list the domain(s) you want to allow to be used. By default no remote domains are listed in the imagegen.config file so that's safe as well.
Block malicious requests
Is there any way to restrict image gen to use one and only size? Also I'd like to block remote images.
I want to avoid someone to spam-generate images on my server. I want the images to be displayed at 250px widht and no other sizes.
Is there any way to do so?
Thanks.

Hello Douglas,
fine thanks for your feedback, I suppose there's no way to "protect" from image generation spam on the free version then?
Thank you
I've never heard of anyone attacking a site this way with ImageGen but if it's a concern for you the Professional version can protect you.
cheers,
doug.
