Starting out with UCommerce - shop within my site?

    Hi

Ok, I'm looking at Ucommerce to see if it will suit the needs of one of our clients.
I need to have a shop facility within an existing umbraco website that will sell vouchers, printable tickets and eventually products.

I have installed the ucommerce and ucommerce store, the store was created on the root of the website, so I moved it to within a shop folder in the website.. now having tried that I am assuming it's not as easy as that as I am not seeing the demo products ..

Can anyone tell me what/where I need to change to get the demo site working from within another site? I'm assuming the references are now wrong, but I am not sure where the references are that I need to change?

Ideally I'd just like to build on the demo site rather than start from scratch.

    Thanks

    Bex

I have got my products displaying now, but some of my links are wrong, like the checkout.. but I have been going through changing them and it seems to be working in most places, but I am getting an error in the admin section.

I am trying to create a new datatype to add to my "ticket" product definition, it's going to have "Child" , "Adult" etc.. but once I've entered my datatype name and I click create I get this:

    Page not found

No umbraco document matches the url 'http://localhost/ucommerce/settings/catalog/editdatatypeenum.aspx?id=21&parent=15'

    umbraco tried this to match it using this xpath query'/root/node/node [@urlName = "ucommerce"]/node [@urlName = "settings"]/node [@urlName = "catalog"]/node [@urlName = "editdatatypeenum"]')

Is this something to do with me not placing the shop on the root or is it another problem? Once I've clicked create the name of my ticket type appears under the ticket.. so I don't know if it' actually been created or not?

uCommerce Admin should not be affected by moving the content nodes around so that's not it.

uCommerce current has a limitation in that it needs to be installed to the root website, not in a virtual folder, and it must reside in the /umbraco/ucommerce folder. From the looks of the example URL you provided uCommerce is installed in /ucommerce where /umbraco/ucommerce was expected.

I'm guessing that lots of other areas of admin aren't working properly either.

Ok, I'm a bit confused I followed the installation instructions, and it did not ask where I wanted to put it.

I installed the demo store and moved this to under the homepage of my test website (which is currently runway).

I have a separate website set up in IIS for the runway website (it is under a port number tho as using IIS 7 and have set up multiple localhosts), and this is a default installation of runway, just in a folder called UmbUcommerceTest on my c drive.

I have set the hostnames to point at my runway website, instead of the ucommerce node because I need the whole website under the same url.

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong, I don't know what you mean by I should have installed it under umbraco/ucommerce? Do you mean the store?

    Thanks

    Bex

Ok, as I was getting annoyed trying to get it to work I completely uninstalled it and reinstalled with umbraco 4.5.1, and now it seems to be working?

Is there a bug with the lower versions? As I said I am only testing its ok it works in 4.5, but the site I will be using it with will be with an umbraco installation that is actually 4.0.3...!

    Hi Bex,

I'll try a repro during the day to see if a bug exists with the 4.0 compatibility layer in uCommerce.

    Hi Bex,

I believe the fix is pretty straightforward having looked into it more. Could you try setting the hostname on the store to default (top level under Product Catalog)? I believe this will fix your issue.

Alternatively you can try out the latest release of uCommerce just released (1.0.5.0). It's available from http://www.ucommerce.dk/en/get-it-now.aspx
