is anybody else experiencing server errors ("potentially dangerous Request.Form value") when entering text to the long description of variants in uCommerce 1.3?

Here's how to fix this:

Go to /umbraco/UCommerce/Catalog/Dialogs and open EditVariantDescription.aspx. Then add the following parameter to the first line:

ValidateRequest="false"

Now everything should work just fine.
