    Variants issues

    Hi,

I recently downloaded uCommerce, and I'm trying to test it. I created a product definition, and now I want to indicate the price. I'm setting up properties which I want to be variants. When I click on this checkbox and click on save, I'm getting an error and I'm also unable to see the variants tab. The error I'm getting is: "The item could not be saved. Ensure that all mandatory fields have been entered, and that the name of the item is unique. * ". The name is unique as it's my only property, and the required fields are all entered.

Am I supposed to modify anything else in order to make this work?

    Thanks!

Did you entered something into 'Display Name' on every language tab?

    Christian,

Now I'm not getting that error, but I'm still not seeing the Variants tab. Anything else I should be doing?

    Thanks!

To be sure: You created a new property in a product definition and marked it as "variant property", right? Then you created a product or opened an existing one and you don't see the variant tab?

Or did you looked for a variant tab in your product definition? This won't be the case, you have to go to a product, click on "variants" and you should see your new property right there (if "render in editor" was checked).

Right, I created a new property B under  a product definition Product A and marked it as "variant property". This property B depends on an already created product "Product A ". So I click on this product and I can't see the variants tab, just the Common tab.

I'm hoping to see this tab under commerce section> settings > product definitions> Product A. Is that correct?

    Thanks!

    Hi Dana,

    Thanks for trying out uCommerce.

The Variants tab will show up in the product editor, not under settings. Basically you either navigate to the product in question by expanding stores, catalogs, and categories under "Product Catalog" or do a search for your product.

If you haven't created any products yet you can do so but right clicking a category and choosing the "Create" item in the popup menu.

This article might shed some light on the matter: Catalog Foundation Explained: Product Definitions.

    Hope this helps.

I see!. Well, for some reason I can't create products, when I click on create and set up the name, it's not showing under Product Catalog. It migth be a permission issue or is there anything else I should configure?

    Thanks!

Products can be created under categories only.

The first two levels of the Product Catalog don't allow products as they are Stores and Catalogs respectively.

You are helping me a lot. So here is one more question. I don't see the folder uCommerce dk under Product Catalog. Nothing is showing and I can't create a new folder. I uninstalled and re installed the modules (ucommerce and store) and I still can't see this. What should I do?

    Thanks!!

No problem at all. it seems something is wrong with the database connection on your install.

Can you verify that you're running SQL Server or SQL Server Express?

Also if you could take a look at the umbracoLog table and see if any additional information is available there that would be very helpful.
