Relating products that must be purchased together

Lets say that I am putting on some shows. The show products are:

    • Juggling show - Copenhagen, Denmark
    • Trapeze show - London, UK

Tickets to these show must be purchaced as a package that includes a night in a hotel.

    The London hotel products are:

    • Ritz
    • Savoy

    The Copenhagen products are:

    • Hotel D'Angleterre
    • The Radisson SAS Royal

When someone adds a ticket for the UK trapeze show to their basket I want to force them to have to select one the London hotels. I wouldn't want them to be able to select any of the Copenhagen hotels.

Is it possible to do this kind of thing in uCommerce?

It's an unusual request I know but you can think of it as being similar to a package holiday website like Expedia where you may first choose from available flights and then choose an available hotel.

    Regards,

    Matt

I know you can do product variants but my gut feeling is that's not the way to go and it would be better to present the ticket and hotel as two seperate products. Especially if there are different levels of ticket price and hotel room price, the permutations would be a headache to maintain.

You can do this with related products.

Basically you could related the options to your main product and do a product page, which forces the customer to pick on of the related products.

So you'd create your "Events" and "Hotels" as separate products and then create relations from a given event to one or more hotels.

Your product page would grab the relationships and show them in a drop down list sort of what you've got with variants in the demo store, only the drop down list is populated with related products instead.

I think that would be pretty clean solution to your requirement.

    Hope this helps.
