    Edit the default products properties

    Hi,

Is there any way to change the default product properties. I want to remove the choose thumbnail image, because i just want to use the image cropper instead, and thereby only choose one image for each product.

    Can this be done?

And can I, if I want to change the property name SKU to the danish word "Produktnummer" do this somewhere?

I have this idea that I can do alot of changing, but right now, I cant find where?! :-)

    /Peter

    Hi Peter,

We've got a couple of base properties that you can't get rid of. Thumbnail image is one of them. Sorry. You could edit the HTML and hack it out by setting the Visible property of the control or removin it altogther.

You won't be able to use image cropper as it is an Umbraco data type. uCommerce uses a custom data type system built specifically for e-commerce.

If wish to change to displayed name of SKU you do so by modifying the resource files uCommerce ships with. The one you're looking for is called "EditProductBaseProperties.ascx.resx" and is located in "umbraco\UCommerce\Catalog\App_LocalResources". There's a resx file for each language uCommerce supports. You can change them all or just the ones containing the languages you expect your admin users to see the UI in.

Okay thats cool. I will see if I can manage to hide the thumbnail property for the product. I allready managed to use the Image Cropper. I allways use the Image Cropper as a datatype for the Image Mediatype, and not as a property on a doctype. And it is still umbraco.library:GetMedia uCommerce use for getting the thumbnail and primary image. So that part works :-)

Cool with all the language files. I think I have found the SKU settings now. Looking forward to play more with it tomorrow :-)

    Hi Peter,

Cool that you managed to get image cropper going. It would be interesting to learn the exact steps you used to get it going. Maybe a guest blog post on the uCommerce blog or on your own would be in order? :)
