    Installation Problems

    Hello,

I am trying to get started with uCommerce, but I seem to be having a problem at the first step, i.e. the installation.  I install the package, and everything seems to work fine.  The Commerce section appears and I can administer the settings of uCommerice, however, everything that I have read, and seen on the uCommerce TV suggests that there should be pages created within the Content section, however, this is not happening, I am left with just an empty site.

I am installing uCommerce 2.0.5.0 on Umbraco 4.7.1.

Can someone point out what I am going wrong, or are my expectations about content also being created incorrect.

    Thanks

    Gary

    Hi gep13

Have you installed the uCommerce store package as well?

If I remember correctly (been a while unfortunately since I've given ucommerce a spin :'() the core installation does not provide any shop pages etc. You need to install the mentioned store package in order to get a functional shop running :)

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

    /Jan

    Hello,

Thanks for getting back to me...

When I search the Online Package Repository for uCommerce, the only one that comes up is "uCommerce Website Utilities" which is what I have installed.

Basically, I have a requirement for adding a small commerce section to a site, and I wanted to trial some packages, and this was first on the list.  If it isn't suitable, if there is are any other suggestions, I am willing to hear them.

    Thanks

    Gary

    Hi gep13

Hmm, yes I see...I'm not sure wether the store package is included in the ucommerce utilities one available from within the repository.

Try having a look here: http://ucommerce.dk/en/get-it-now/download.aspx

You might need to provide your e-mail address in order to get access though but this is the official site for the ucommerce project/company :)

    Ah, I see!

I think that is the part that I am missing.

I will give it a try.

    Thanks

    Hello,

It would appear that this extra package was all that was requierd.  Did I miss something somewhere?  Where is this requirement documented?  Everything that I have read, and everything that I have watched suggested that this Store was inclued in the single package that was available from the online repository.

Where is the best place to find up to date information about installing and getting started with uCommerce, bearing in mind that I am new to Umbraco as well?

    Thanks

    Gary

Also, having just installed both packages a fresh, I now don't see the uCommerce section in the bottom left hand corner :(

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Sorry it was a little tricky to find the second package. We try and make the two downloads as obvious as possible, but are not always succesfull. Depending on where you download uCommerce (here or on the uCommerce site) it's a little different what you need to look out for.

On Our there are multiple downloads listed on the project page:

On the uCommerce site there's a note about the second download in the headline. This is the not quite obvious one.

Regarding the missing app icon: I would check for permissions on the user you're logged in as. Umbraco controls access for individual apps and new users must be given access to each of them in turn (uCommerce will automatically give access to the account named "admin").

    Hello,

Now it all makes sense :)

I had simply went through the Online Package Repository, searched for uCommerce, and only one package turned up.  And based on this video:

    http://www.ucommerce.dk/en/support/ucommerce-tv/setup-the-ucommerce-demo-store.aspx

I thought that was all that was required, as this video only shows the installation of one package.

Never mind though, it is all sorted out.

Also, I have just checked the User Settings, and noticed that uCommerce was not selected in the Sections CheckBoxList, so I have now enabled that, and I can see the icon, thanks for all your help.

Now, to get started with setting up the actual shop.

Are there any walkthrough guides that help with this?  Would you recommend starting with the Shop that ships in the Starter Kit, or simply using the DocumentTypes and Templates that it is made up of?  Ideally, I would like to integrate this into an existing site.

    Thanks

    Gary

    Perfect.

I would use the uCommerce Demo Store as a reference to keep track of how the various XSLT extensions work together. From there just add the stuff you need to your existing site. The existing store has 80% of what you need so if you like the way it's put together I'd definitely built off of that.

    Sounds like a plan :)

There will likely be some more questions as I start to play with this some more and get it set up.

    Thanks

    Gary
