I am having a very similar issue to this at the moment. We have two keys one for our different enviroments set up but at the moment neither of them appears to be geneating a licence file when put in the site route. If anyone knows why this may be help would be appreciated.
The blue banner has been replaced with a yellow one saying that I am using functions not covered by the free license that I have, so I will need to look into that.
Do you know if that is as simple as deleting the necessary sections from the Umbraco Back Office, or is that related to the Macros that I am using?
uCommerce will only check for a license once per app start. To force a recheck recycle the app pool and it will generate a lic file for you.
We ship uCommerce with a default marketing campaign in Marketing Foundation, which is not supported by the free edition. Disable the campaign, force a recheck, and you're good to go :)
If I could give some feedback, I think it would be better to make it clearer within the Umbraco BackOffice regarding what is, and what is not supported in the Free Version of uCommerce. I was disappointed to learn that the use of the voucher feature during Checkout is not available in the Free Version. It wasn't until I checked the summary section on your website that I found out this information. Granted, this information does belong there, but I also think it should be in the BackOffice, perhaps when you create a Campaign, provide a one time warning that this is only available in the paid version.
I have now aslo solved the issue the issue I was having with the licence. It was a missing dll from the deployment (Infralution.Licencing.dll). It was just silently failing to load the dll and therefore not actually generating the .lic file. I found a reference eventually in the umbraco logs to diagnose this and once the dll was in place it all began to work perfectly.
Good point. I have a feature request for being able to configure uCommerce to behave as any given edition in developer mode. This would make it easier to figure out what's there and what isn't.
That said there is a bit of marketing involved here as well. We really do want to show off you what the other versions can do.
Yip, I totally get that, and I can understand why you would want to show off the features of your Product. I just think that it needs "something" to make it a little bit more obvious when in the Umbraco Back Office that you are turning on features that only appear in the paid for product.
On a side note, is uCommerce going to be updated to co-inside with the new Umbraco release?
Sorry for not getting back to you on this earlier. uCommerce 3 will work with Umbraco 5 and work is progressing nicely. I expect a release a few weeks after 5 is released.
License not working
Hello,
I have just tried to install the uCommerce.key to the root of my website, but it doesn't seem to have worked?!?
I still get the uCommerce Developer Edition banner, and the ucommerice.lic doesn't seem to have been created.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Gary

Okay, thanks, I will give this a try.
