Can someone explain to me how the UCommerce licensing works? Is it domain specific?
I have inherited a website which has UCommerce running. We currently own a UCommerce Enterprise License which I understand allows you to run on three IIS instances. We currently have a staging site and two web production nodes and they all run UCommerce with no licensing alert.
And obviously the www. Equivalent works fine. (although not on the new server)
Could you explain how the licensing works and how I know what my key allows me to use it with? What are my other options to get c.www.milkbooks.com working? Do I have to buy another key?
Furthermore it looks like the lic file is not being written. I know it will only once the site restarts and i have tried iisrestart and recycle app pool. When I do i get an error in umbraco logs Index was outside the bounds of the array. What could this mean? Why is the lic file not being written?
The licensing is bound to the IIS site, not the domain, so each physical IIS site counts against the license.
Your set up is support so it might be a case of an overactivated license (we sometimes see them deployed in dev environments, which also count against activations).
I have reset your key to ensure that you can reactivate.
When you're not seeing the .lic generated it's typically because the licensing system is reporting back that there are no available activations.

I recently brought up a third production node and am receiving a "developer edition" message. http://c.www.milkbooks.com/catalog/books/48561/moleskine-photo-books/
Here are the URLs that work:
http://a.www.milkbooks.com/catalog/books/48561/moleskine-photo-books/
http://b.www.milkbooks.com/catalog/books/48561/moleskine-photo-books/
http://staging.milkbooks.com/catalog/books/48561/moleskine-photo-books/
And obviously the www. Equivalent works fine. (although not on the new server)

P.S i have the key installed in the root of the third production node (same as the others) but still doesnt seem the register the license.

Hi Carl,

Hi Søren,
I have exactly the issue you mentioned above.
Could you reset the free licensing for the domain name ecgcheck.com ?
Thanks
Hi Firas,
I have reset your key.
You only need a key in your production environment. You can run in developer mode (without license) on your other sites for dev and stage.
If you're trying to get rid of the dev edition banner you can use the info from Staging Sites without the Developer Edition Banner.
Hope this helps.
I have the same issue, possibly overactivated key. Client will contact support about that.
Just wondering.. Is there a way to get see if this is actually the case or if there's something else stopping the .lic file generation?
Nevermind, I found my own answer in the umbracoLog:
uCommerce license has exceeded the number of activations available. Please make sure to only install your key in your production environment.... etc..
So that is indeed our issue..
I have a site which is being migrated to a new server.
Who do I contact in order to get the key reset?
Regards,
John
