Edit items in an order through the backoffice

Is it possible to edit order lines in the backoffice to update the price or quantity or the item?

We're currently looking at doing something like quotes that can change depending on whats asked so we'd ideally want the prices to be able to change. I thought it might be possible through: https://vendr.net/docs/core/1-2-0/key-concepts/order-editor-config/#order-line-config-options but only seem to be able to edit order properties through this.

    Cheers, Mark V

    Hi Mark,

Unfortunately not. Vendr doesn't currently support the creation / editing of orders in the back office. You can only use Vendr to view / manage orders created from your front end with the ability to only edit order / order line properties that do not affect prices.

The only way you could do this would be to create a custom front end to load and edit orders in the same way that you would a normal front end purchase.

    Hey Matt,

    Thanks for the reply

I can see how a custom frontend would be possible. I think this may be our answer.

Do you think it is something you're open to adding into Vendr?

    Cheers, Mark V

    Hey Mark,

I'm not against the idea, but it would be a lot of work and it's not something we currently have planned.

One big hurdle to overcome is that Vendr doesn't really know what is a product in the system, it's purely up to the implementation of the site to determine this. This is what gives Vendr base stores great flexibility in how you can structure the site around the clients needs, but as I say it makes it difficult for Vendr to know exactly what is a product.

If there is a demand for it, of course we will look into it, but for now, the simplest approach would be to create a protected page where you can code this behavior yourself because as the implementer, you know what makes a product and how to add them to the order.

    /Matt
