is XSTLsearch compatible with Umbraco 7.1.1? I have installed XSLTsearch in a lot of Umbraco 4 and Umbraco 6 websites and it works everytime perfect. Now, I have installed it in Umbraco 7.1.1 and I get the following error:
Hmm, I think I answered another post somewhere about this where I said xslt search was not supported in v7...but if I remember correctly Dr. Obar (Douglas Robar) answered the same post explaining how to get it to work...I just tried googling but can't seem to find it.
But have you checked the /app_data/logs file to see if it reveals any information about the error? It should be labelled with "ERROR".
But I think a better option is perhaps to begin using EZSearch, which was released at last years codegarden as a Razor replacement for XSLT search so to speak.
Sorry for the late response. The problem is a bug in Umbraco itself (see http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-3425) and should be fixed in 7.1.2. Apart from this bug, XSLTsearch works great in v7.
However, as Jan mentioned, there's a replacement that is more 'modern' in that it is based on Razor rather than XSLT... ezSearch. Highly recommended.
Quite right, Dan. Seems the bug in the core has come back. issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-5220 Please vote it up.
Another possiblity... consider converting to ezSearch. It does everything XSLTsearch does, is far faster, and can even search in media filenames. That's what I use these days. Though I agree that XSLTsearch should still work and the core bug is bothersome.
Thanks for this. I will consider that but was really after a quick fix. I upgraded the site as 7.0.3 has a bug where you can't change the user's password. Also, I have my own extensions which don't work. I've even compiled them and the problem remains.

Hi Jan,
yes, I have checked the log files but I can't found any error. Thanks for the tip! I will begin using EZSearch.

I've just upgraded to 7.1.4 and this search and my own XSLT extensions are no longer recognised.

Hi Doug
I'm going to rollbck to an earlier version. You don't happen to know the most recent version that doesn't suffer from this problem?
Thanks
Dan
7.1.1 is unaffected by this problem but 7.1.2, 7.1.3 and 7.1.4 are
I should have thought this would have worked correctly at least in 7.1.2 given this bug report... issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-3425
cheers,

is working on a reply...
