Am I right in understanding that when you stop the macro from rendering in the backend node editor, then insert the macro and save and publish the page, when viewing the page as a normal website user nothing is rendered?
I have tried and been unable to recreate this problem. Can you let me know what version of Umbraco you are using etc?
If the option is on, editors of the node should see a placeholder for the video with the correct dimensions. In the current version the actual video preview / thumbnail wont be visible because the TinyMCE editor does not support flash rendering while editing, but I find it satisfactory to know the dimensions and be able to check the right video is being loaded by using the preview page function.
I could not recreate this in 4.7 but could partially recreate it in 4.7.1.
I experienced the problem where the video would only take up a blank paragraph after a publish in the backend, however I could not create the problem whereby the video would not be shown in the front end after unchecking "Render content in editor".
I'v got an update for the package planned so I will try and find a fix for your problems and put them in the new update.
I have now published the update. The height and width is now properly shown in the editor. I have also added the feature mentioned here. However I wasn't able to reproduce the problem where the video wasn't being rendered in the front end when "Render content in editor" was unchecked. I have added it to my long to do list and will try to spend some more time on it soon :) I hope that in the mean time there are sufficient work-arounds to get past this problem.
Turning off Render content in editor breaks embed
If I turn off the option render content in editor for the macro then video's are not displayed on the page.
But if I keep the option on, than all editors see is an empty macro block, not every user friendly!

With the option on:

I will update this thread when it is ready.
Thanks again,

P.s. Perhaps try a package reinstall?
Hi Max,
Thanks for the update, glad to hear you could reproduce the issue. I'm looking forward to the update.
