I've done a fresh manual install of 4.7.1 on windows 7 and followed all the procedures...
Set permissions on folders (network user)
Created application pool
Configured IIS
Everything installed fine and i can login to umbraco but each time i try to install a package I'm getting errors, mainly that certain folders (app_data) are not there when they are.
have done a little more digging and found the problem and it lies firmly with the virtual directory, moved it to a website withing IIS and everything is now wokring. Can i mark this as the solution?

Hi Stephen
Try setting permissions on the iusr as well. Does that help?
/Jan
Already done that, same issue...really weird, have seen a few other posts like this on the board...
Hmmm, indeed that is weird...I'm all out of ideas then...But keep us posted on the solution once someone finds it.

Hello,
I'm facing the same exact problem, using Webmatrix for installing and managing Umbraco 4.7.1 in Windows 7.
I use SQLCE for storage.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks in advance
Is your website a virtual directory?
S
I use IIS Express for running the site via Webmatrix.
I know that there is a distinction between Virtual Directories and Applications in IIS but I'm not sure if the same applies to IIS Express as well...
By the way, as some other fellows reported earlirer, if the package is going to be installed manually, everything completes with no errors...
is working on a reply...
