Is it normal that my new install of Umbraco 4.5.1 doesn't open in a new window when I click "Launch Umbraco"? I also can't right click on the sections and open in a new tab in Firefox on OSX...Is something wrong with my install or is this new behavior intentional?
Yep, as Steen says - there are no pop-up windows in Umbraco (from v4.5). Personally, I have never accessed the Umbraco back-office via the pop-up window!
The shift/middle-click to open a new tab is annoying (I used this a lot!) I believe the thinking behind the change is that the new tree remembers its state (open/closed tree nodes), so you can happily switch between each section without it resetting.
Not entirely sure why the shift/middle-click functionality was removed - surely we could have the best of both worlds?
Yeah, I used to just login to the backend and right-click + open-in-new-tab on the Settings and Developer buttons. Now I have to manually open 3 windows in Firefox and change the #settings and #developer suffix in the url manually. This sucks big time. Bring back the right-click functionality!
We can't open sections in a new Tab because we were supposed to be given the ability to control click a section and have it open in a new tab. I don't know what happened but this obviously isn't working. (Yes pop-ups are allowed for my UMB Installs)
Documentation on codeplex: "Umbraco4.0.4.2.changelog.pdf" Release Notes states the following:
21501 Enable section icons to be ctrl + clicked to open in new tabs / windows
I tried in FF 3.5.11, 3.6.8, GC 5, Safari 4, IE7, and Opera 10, all are a NO-GO. I thank the Core Team for giving us a .NET 4 Build of Umbraco before UMB 5 is released but so far 4.0.4 - 4.5.1 is still having it's growing pains to get through. Oh and by the way, Umbraco is still the best CMS around, Period.
Umbraco no longer launches in a new window?

With 4.5 there's no more pop-up window, so that is to be expected.
With regards to the right click, this changed in 4.5.
I find it slightly annoying to be honest as I used to do this all the time.
Anyone know the reason for this change, and anyone know a work around?
I agree Rich, it was awesome being able to have multiple sections open at once.
