Notifications not showing differences between current and 'save to publish' version?

    Hello fellow Umbracians,

one of our clients brought the following issue they are having to my attention: they are using the notification system for their internal workflow to prepare and edit content on their web site. That all works perfectly well apart from one thing: the editor who receives the notification has to read through the whole page content to see if it's okay or not as there is no functionality to only highlight the changes since the last save, neither in the notification email nor in the CMS when viewing the content node in question. I am talking about something like the difference view when you use the Rollback feature on a content node.

Has anyone stumbled across this and has found a fix or workaround?

From a technical point of view I am pretty sure that only upon publishing a node a new version of it will be created in the database, if you save a node it will only overwrite the saved state - aka there is one version in the db each time a node gets published and one 'in-between' version when a node gets saved. This is why you can't roll back to a saved version of a node I guess. Yet my question would be this: should it not at least be possible to show the difference between the one saved version of the node and the current published version?

Any ideas/insights/explanations etc. very much welcome!

    Thanks in advance,

    Sascha

I too would like to find a solution to this same issue.
