I'm wondering if it's possible to have a datatype which selects different document types in the same way as the Multiple Node Picker from uComponents does? At the moment, the Multiple Node Picker just chooses nodes from the Content and the Media section.
I don't know how, but an 'hack' would be to list the Doc Types you need as nodes under a "settings" node and just pick from these, obviously not perfect as you'd need to add/edit a node for each new DocType but certainly would work.
On a side note would be interested to know how you're going to use this info and it's purpose?
