Each region will have a number of languages, but the same document types will be used throughout the site.
The client has asked if it would be possible to have the admin UI available in the target language. I understand there is support for some languages for the UI, but this post is about how I could set up mutilingual Tabs and Properties on my Document Types.
So for example if I have a Document Type called Product. It has the following tabs and properties:
Properties Tab: ManuName, PageTitle, MetaDescription, MetaKeywords etc.
Text tab: PageHeading, PageText, PageSummaryText etc.
Multimedia tab: ProductImage1, ProductImage2, ProductVideo etc.
When a CMS user is logged in to fill out for example the German, these tabs and properties are going to be fairly meaningless (unless they can speak English). So what would be nice is that when I create the Document Type, I give translations of these tabs so that the German CMS user can understand what it is they are entering.
Does anyone know a way of achieving that, without creating copies of all my Document Types in all languages?
Thanks for this. I'm new to Twitter (just signed up this morning so I can contact him) and I can't work out how to send him a message yet but I'm sure I'll work it out eventually!
Multilingual Document Type Tabs and Properties
I'm creating a multi region, multilingual site.
Each region will have a number of languages, but the same document types will be used throughout the site.

Yes, this is possible as far as I know (we talked about this @ the last Benelux meetup), by using the dictionary, but I'm not sure how...
If I remember correctly, Ron Brouwer (http://our.umbraco.org/member/4441) talked about this.
That would be awesome if you're right - is there a way of contacting him directly?
Twitter? I posted the url to his member page... I'm not going to give you his e-mailaddress and I guess you'll understand.
Else you can contact Axendo (he works there)/Martijn Beumers

Hi Graham,
It is indeed possible by using the dictionary. More information can be found on this wiki page: http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/how-tos/how-to-localize-umbraco-backend-document-types
Cheers,
Michael.
Nice!
Thanks Mike! You're a star!
You're welcome :-)
