How to add/upload images/media and source in documents?

Hi all. We're brand new to Umbraco and trying to get a site online. However, I'm at a complete loss when it comes to bulk uploading our images for the CSS and content. Where does the media go and is there a way to load multiple images at once throught he admin interface?

    Hi Pat,

If you want to upload images for css / content then you can just copy / ftp them to the /images/ directory just like any normal website.

If you would like to bulk upload images that your client can choose from (which will go to the media section within Umbraco) then have a look at http://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/zip-upload

If you haven't already seen it, this is a great resource for learning Umbraco (with videos) http://umbraco.org/help-and-support/video-tutorials/introduction-to-umbraco

    Rich,

Thanks very much for the help - I'll check out the zip project for sure. As far as getting going with Umbraco, we've got a subscription to the videos, but it seems that they're not in any particular order, and there don't seem to be any tru "newbie" tutorials - as in where to put images, creating a "hello world" page, things like that.

The learning curve is steep, but we're jumping in with both feet - so far, so good!

    Hi Pat,

Lee has some great videos on his blog which is titled "Building your first Umbraco site from scratch" should be a good resource for you http://www.blogfodder.co.uk/2010/5/13/building-your-first-umbraco-site-from-scratch

Here are the 'introduction' videos from Umbraco, these are in order here http://umbraco.org/help-and-support/video-tutorials/introduction-to-umbraco/sitebuilder-introduction/document-types

Stick with it, it's worth it in the end!

Let us know how you get on.

    Rich
