    Hi Anthony

I don't think anyone has made a news package yet. I have not come across it searching the projects here on our at least.

What features would you like to see in such a package? Maybe this could be a good package idea? :-)

    /Jan

    Hi Jan,

I find it somewhat surprising no news package has been developed yet, as this is very common functionality for a website.

In the meantime, I have downloaded and installed the Business Website Starter Pack by Dan Drayne:

    http://our.umbraco.org/projects/starter-kits/business-website-starter-pack

This is to my opinion a very good starter pack, and the news functionality in this package is sufficient for the website I need to build.

Speaking about features, I have worked a lot with the News Articles module by Ventrian Systems:

    http://www.ventrian.com/Products/Modules/NewsArticles.aspx

This is a module created for the DotNetNuke system (sorry for mentioning the D-word :)

But in this module, and all other news modules I came acros, there is archive functionality. One should be able to create categories and add a news article to multiple categories so that a user can filter news articles on that category.

Another feature that is in the News Article module is a 'related articles' function. One can tag an article and based on this tag, articles are related to one another.

So, I hope I have inspired a 'white knight' on this forum. If I can be of any help, I can always give this person administrator rights to one of my websites where this News Articles module is installed.

    greetings,

    Anthony

I actually adapted Blog4Umbraco to a news feature for a client last year. It works pretty well because it has built-in categories (tagging) and auto archive. Just remove some of the "blog" features that you don't need, like tag cloud and comments, and you're pretty close.
