Manage Host Names on shared hosting

    Hi Guys,

I think i am missing a step, I have and instance of umbraco v 4.5.2 installed I have one site running fine, I have copied that site and used manage host names to give it a new domain (not a sub domain). In my hosting i have set up the domain that i used for my second site in Umbraco.

It doesn't seem to have worked, am i missing a step? Do I have to point the new domain to umbraco some how?

    Thanks

    L

    Hi Lachlann

How have you set the sites up using "manage hostnames" in Umbraco? Does this reflect how it's been setup on the web server?

    Hi Jan.

Im not sure i now what you mean, In umbraco the domain is added as "explore-st-andrews.com.doghorn.arvixe.com" and in my hosting control panel I have added a new toplevel domain called explore-st-andrews.com which has an instant alias of explore-st-andrews.com.doghorn.arvixe.com.

So a bit more reading and it seems that I have to request that my hosting provider edits the host headers. Any one have any experience of this?

    Hi Lachlann

Yes the hostnames should also be setup in IIS otherwise it won't have any effect.
