    4.6.1 + blog4umbraco: url/node moving issues

I've added the blog4umbraco to my 4.6.1 site, already populated with content. The previously added content remains, but now a new root node, "blog" exists. That's good.

However, the URL to the "blog" node is the same as the URL ("/") to the home page for the existing site. I'd rather the blog url be companysite.com/blog.

Next problem, when I tried to move the "blog" node, I see the move node dialog, but nothing is included in the dialog. My error console shows:
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
    Parameter name: utcDate

    whenever I call that dialog.

    What should I do?

Maybe I can rephrase this? I really need help getting this problem resolved.

In my content tree I have:

    Content
    > Home
       > main content area
    > Blog
       > future home of blog content

Both "Home" and "Blog" have their URL as "/" so they conflict. (Well the "Home" node is what shows.)

What's the best way to resolve this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Kyle

In order to make this work you need to setup the hostnames for the root nodes, by choosing "manage hostnames" when you right click. You also need to make sure the host headers have been setup properly on you web server.

Does this make sense to you?

Yes. However, can I set the blog root URL to companyname/blog instead of "/" ? When I try to move the blog root node, I get errors, detailed in my first post.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kyle

Yes this is what you need to specify in the host name and host header.

What have you entered in these fields?

I'm not sure about the weird error you receive unfortunately :-/

    Jeez lou-eeze that was easy.

To be clear (since this is slightly at odds with your instructions, so I might have done this wrongly)

Right-click on the "Blog" root node

    choose "Manage Hostnames"

Then, I entered "blog" into the "Domain" field and "English" in the the "Language" field

and then company.com/blog now works as expected.

Does that miss anything? I didn't see a "host header" field.

    Much thanks!

    Hi Kyle

Hmm, did you just enter "blog" in the field? I would suspect that you should write http://www.company.com/blog - this should work as well and be future proof if you for some reason need to use another root node with a blog, that needs to answer from anotherdomain.com/blog for instance :-)

By host header I'm thinking about how the site has been setup in your IIS - This must be setup correctly as well...

    Hope it makes sense? :-)

I'm developing in WebMatrix and the change is working well so far, which is awesome as I want to finish this site!

I owe you a beverage of your choosing. Thanks!
