    Umbraco 4.6.1 admin keep alive

    Hi,

First of all great job with Umbraco 4.6 in general.

I just have a huge problem with the new auto logout "feature". It's no doubt working just as it is intended, but it destroys my work process when it keeps loggin me out and overlays the page with that "LOCKED" form.

It means that I can't leave my admin tabs for a while and keep working when I come back. All the tabs will be locked and needs to be refreshed. We have different and complicated passwords for all out umbraco solutions, so writing it again in the "LOCKED" screen is not an option. Furthermore the inbuilt browser password remembering does NOT catch the ajax login. So no help there either.

Does anyone have some tips on how to live with it OR even better, how to kill the feature?

    Any help is appreciated.

    /Rune

Yea, I find that annoying, too, but we're not alone. Here's one way to kill the feature: http://our.umbraco.org/forum/core/general/17266-Disable-the-Backend-TimeoutLock I came to this for a different reason. The IIS logs fill up with messages related to this script. I made the change suggested here, but then you end up with a broken admin panel upon a different kind of timeout. I'd like to see an overall rewrite to the admin UI; even better if I could eloquently enumerate my ideas. ;)

Fantastic. That post newer came up in any of my searches.

Thanks Kyle. I will post my complaint over there instead.

    Hi Rune,

I use 1Password for all my passwords - enabling me to generate really strong passwords for client Admin panels etc. without me having to remember them...

I was hoping for a clean "right-click, Fill & submit Admin..." experience, but that didn't work (probably because the form isn't the same as the login form). But if I create a separate "Renew" login, I can use that the next time.

So I guess that's saved me for now - would like to see a better implementation though...

    /Chriztian
