Can anyone tell tell me why should I choose umbraco. This is more over head than developing in asp.net regarding dynamic pages. What is the main use of Umbraco here?
Because I am new to umbraco here and I am about to develop a sample website with dynamic pages in umbraco so that it has to save time than developed in asp.net.
But when started developing the application where ever there is a need of writing code I need to place .net user control. Almost in my all the templates in umbraco are using user controls becuase I need to write some code to get data from database, some calculations, saving images, vidoes, setting cookies, getting images, changing CSS on the fly and more over. So every time, every where there is user control. Getting hesitated writing code for each user control and copying the file, add a document type with a template, place the user control in the template and finally create a content for output.
Umbraco is a content management system in the first place. You can see it as a layer on top of ASP.Net which facilitates creating, editing, publishing... content, as well as the associated templates, lay-out, access management...
If you want to know if your site would work best on Umbraco, why don't you give an overview of the site you want to make to the people here? I'm sure we can suggest you ways that involve less coding than you think right now.
Don't make the mistake of doing too much: Umbraco already does a lot for you. However, its flexibility is huge so you have a lot of freedom there.
why Umbaco?
