Hey guys,
Things must be going pretty well overall for now..... I haven't posted in awhile. I want to know if any of you have a solution for this.
I want to structure my site a little different. I want there to be two "root" nodes. Basically one that is a data holder, and the second that is a website. Not hard at all, BUT.....
For instance
Data Nodes
Product Categories
Cat 1
Cat 2
Cat 3
Cat 4
Product Groups
Group 1
Group 2
Group 3
Group 4
Products
Product 1
Product 2
Product 3
Product 4
Website Nodes
Home
Products
Cat 1 (Copied but still related)
Group 1 (Copied but still related)
Product 1 (Copied but still related)
Cat 2 (Copied but still related)
About Us
Basically I want it so when you change something in the data nodes, it will change it in the lower nodes as well. Any ideas?
Ruben,
Thanks for the quick reply. There are reasons for sure.
1. Mainly the people who will be updating them don't have the smarts to keep it straight in the website portion.
2. Sometimes a product needs to be copied into multiple groups, and multiple groups into multiple categories, etc. I want it structured that way so that we can change the data in one place and not it all of the instances, and keep a solid site structure.
2) I don't know if copies are an appropriate choice here. Maybe a multi-node picker (e.g. UltimatePicker) could do the job by letting you select the categories a certain node belongs to (or the inverse).
Ruben,
Thanks for the reply, the only reason I am doing it by copying the data is because I am using a Google Sitemap Generator and the structure has to be that way for the URL scheme they want.
Can anybody help me on this, it was dead in the water, but they are wanting to implement it with the upgrade to Umbraco 4. Please help if you can, or let me know a better way.

Can you explain your motivation to have that structure? I'm sure you've got some very good reasons, but I can't imagine them right now :)
Maybe strange, but I'm thinking a bit in the direction of multi-language setups: they also have a similar link between two nodes.

Hi Jeremy,
1) OK.
