I am new to Umbraco and I am sure I am making a noob mistake but I have searched through the forum and the limited documentation and haven't been able to find an answer. I have completed a fresh install and have added a few packages to get a feel for how things look and work in the various sections of the application. When I went to start creating some of my own document types I realized any time I right click and select create or use the create button at the top nothing happens. I then tried to create a content page on the Run Away section and didn't have any luck there either. I am hoping I have missed some sort of configuration setting but fear that something might have gone wrong with the installation. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds like the javascript behind that function is blocked. What browser and browserversion do you use?
In Internet Explorer scripted windows can be blocked sometimes. But I did not experience this myselve with Umbraco and I do not know if that is the case in your situation, but you can try adding your domain to the trusted domains (in IE: internet options / security / trusted sites).
I am using firefox 3 and am not experiencing any javascript errors. I am able to edit existing items but for some reason the create function seem to be disabled. Anyone else have any other ideas?
I am wondering if this could possibly be related to a problem I was having with my first install.
Try seeing if you can save an edited or created template, if you cant and you see this error message appear "Template not saved Please make sure that you do not have 2 templates with the same alias" Then you have had the same problem as me.
If you get this error there is a workaround for it here. http://forum.umbraco.org/yafpostsm39382Template-not-saved-Please-make-sure-that-you-do-not-have-2-templates-with-the-same-alias.aspx#39382
Thanks everyone for the ideas. I finally decided to re-FTP all the files and that did the trick. I am not sure which files I was missing but I must have missed some of them.
Unable to create

Otherwise you might try it using firefox 3
Thanks Nico!
