Once my editors start editing nodes, there is no way to return to the dashboard of (for example) the content section. I have configured the account for the editor to open up on level 1, but that automatically hides the top "Content" node.
The only way for them to return to the dashboard is by hitting F5. How do other people deal with this?
Hmm, looks like you need to go to another section, then go back to the first section by double clicking the section icon. Not really ideal though I guess.
Not an elegant solution, but you could create a new datatype which simply has a deep link to the dashboard, then put this data type at the top of the first tab and label it 'Return to dashboard'
Hmm, I'm now thinking of hacking in a link next to the help & logout buttons. Although I'll propose Matt's double-click first, see if they mind terribly.

Unfortunately no.. :)

In umbraco v 4.6.1 (Assembly version: 1.0.4029.25836) I can just click on the "Content" node in the tree and it loads the dashboard back
@elspiko: Sure, but my editor doesn't have that content node as their startnode is different from the admin's startnode:

How about hitting backspace?
That works, if you've clicked once. But keep in mind that these are content editors, normal user, not people who know how a browser works.
is working on a reply...
